How do I start sailing?
Getting started is easy. The best way to begin your sailing journey is by joining one of our training courses.
Our courses include expert instruction and all the equipment you'll need, so you can focus on learning and enjoying your time on the water.
At Oban Sailing Club, we offer high-quality training led by a friendly and experienced team of instructors. All courses follow the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) schemes, helping you build skills, confidence, and a lifelong love of sailing.
New members are always welcome
Were an open and inclusive club, and we welcome everyone.
Whether you're a family, a couple, an individual, or a young person, there's a membership option to suit you. No previous sailing experience is required—just enthusiasm to get involved.
Is sailing expensive?
Starting sailing doesn't have to be costly.
Our training courses include club membership for new members, and once you've completed your course, you'll be able to use club dinghies—so there's no need for a big upfront investment.
We aim to make sailing as accessible as possible, with flexible payment options available.
Do I need to buy a boat?
No—you don't need your own boat to get started.
We have a fleet of club dinghies available for training and for member use outside of training sessions (for a small fee).
If you do own a dinghy, we can offer berthing at the club (berthing fees apply).
